This symbol which consists in a painted eye under which
there was the typical sign of the head of a falcon, means “the who has
good health”. It is the eye of the Horus hawk, who, originally was itself
the eye of the god of the sky, the Sun.
When Ra took the solar eye, in the ancient reign, Horus’s eye became the
eye of the moon.
Taken away from Horus by Seth in the time of their
legendary fights it was successively given back to his owner when he
defeated the enemy. The eye udjiat is represented in many tombs and has
become in time one “of the most used amulets by the Egyptians”.
