
The tomb of Neferher-Ptah
and Iruka-Ptah

| Along the southern wall of Unas’s pyramid, there are Neferher-Ptah’s tomb, a superintendent of the palace under a not precised reign of the V dynasty, known also as “tomb of the birds” for the remarkable decorating sketches on the walls that represent scenes of the butchering of great realism, dated at the end of the V dynasty. Some excavations, in 1965, have led to the discovery of a serves of rocky tombs, og which are interesting for the decorations those of two priests of Ra, Niankhkum and Khnum-hotep, the entrance of which had been block by the building of a rapa, and the one of the dignitary Nefer’s family with the mummy of a man in a funeral pit and many decorations with different subjects with meticulous details on the walls. |
