TEIE (Tiye). Girl of a not royal origin, Yuia’s and Tuia’s daughter, she became queen marrying the great sovereign Amenhotep III (XVIII dynasty around 1390 – 1352 BC). She was the first queen who had in important role during her husband’s life. She actively partecipated in the foreign politic and cared for the problems of the country during her son’s first years of reign, in the name of whom she governed. Near Soleb, in a temple, in Sedeinga she was assimilated to the goddess Hathor and was worshipped as the local patron while she was still alive. Teie was the first woman who was deified during her existance.
