| Psusennes II was the last King of the XXI dynasty. During this reign the hibysen families in the country acquired always more power. An event occurred during Psusennes’s II reign, reveals the always greater political influence of these families who obtained the throne at the beginning of the XXII dynasty. The head of the Lybian Sheshong, future king of Egypt, asked Psusenne II the permission to practise his dead father’s funeral cult. The king went to Tebe to question god Amon and, after receiving through the oracle a favourable answer in Sheshong, fulfilled the Lybian’s whish. |
