The mut walls

Besides Mut’s temple, that is surrounded by a half-moon shaped lake, we also find other secondary buildings among which Khonspekhrod’s temple that goes back to the XVIII Dynasty and a Ramses III temple.
Mut’s temple was built by Amenhotep III, but the walls are from the tolomeo epoch; later it was enlarged by Taharqua, Nectanebo I and others.
Amenhotep III dedicated to the temple hundreds of statues in black granite of the lioness-goddess Sekhmet, some of them can still be admired in Karnak.
