The Month walls

The Month walls contain the main Month temple, some minor buildings, the important Harpra’s and Maat’s temples, and a sacred lake.
In 1970 outside the walls an ancient temple to Monthu was discovered, built by Thutmosi I. On the northern side we find a pier and a path of sphinxes with human heads.
The portal known as Bab el-‘Abd, was built by Tolomeo III, Evergete I and Tolomeo IV Filopatore and Amenhotep’s III temple.
Many changes were made on the original plan by the following kings especially by Taharqa.
