Seshat

This small low relief is situated in the temple of Luxor, at a height of 2 metres:

-Seshat (literally female scribe), Thot’s sister, is portrayed while marking the succession of ages on the nervation of a palm leaf, with a sacerdotal leopard skin on and, on her head, a banner surmounted by a seven-pointed star originally inscribed into a crescent, which was then turned into a pair of overturned horns. (Picture). Protector of scribes and builders, she was in charge of the orientation of temple foundations, and is remembered as King Khasekhemwy’s assistant in the ritual of laying and tension of the ceremonial rope and in reference to the cardinal points.
