Geb

Geb, the earth-god, member of the eliopolitan Enneade. In the primitive epochs it was believed that with Nut he generated the sun Ra. In the eliopolitan system he is Shu’s and Tefnut’s son and father to Osiride, Iside, Seth and Nefti. The texts of the Pyramids report that he actually reigned, following Ra. He was worshipped in the appearance of a man, sometimes with a bird on his head, in fact the hieroglyphic which represents him is a bird. In Bata, near Elaiopoli, there is a sanctuary dedicated to Geb.
