Djer

Djer had the fame of being a great leader.
Three expeditions that he guided are known- it’s not known if they were made to conquer new territories or to restore the peace threatened by tribal battles- against the Asians and against the Nubian.
Nubian was characterized by battles of an incredible violence.
The most bloody battle was in the water: the Nubian leader was captured and tied by his neck to the bow of the pharaoh’s ship.
At the end of the battle, the killed enemies’ disfigured bodies floated on the Nile.
King Djer was buried in Abydos with all the honors and the pomp fit for a pharaoh and in his journey to the other world, he brought with himself many metal and wood objects, ivory and stone utensils, alabaster vases, arms and jewels. A
mong these, in his tomb also four bracelets of extraordinary manufacture were found, on one of them there was the king’s 2serekh”, that is the rectangular frame with the sovereign’s name inscripted, surmounted by god Horus.
