Cheope's solar boat

  According to the Egyptian religion, the pharaoh’s soul was carried to the sky, to be united to the god Sun, on a sacred boat, called “solar boat”. In 1954, near Cheope’s great pyramid in Giza, a boat probably offered to the gods for this reason, was found really well kept. It is 43 meters long, it has five oars on each side and other two on the stern, used as a helm. Some archaeologists think that the boat was in reality used to transport the pharaoh’s body to the tomb.
