Amhose II

Ahmose II ascended the throne after the pharaoh Wahibre’s defeat in
the battle in Momemphis. The public disgust against Wahibre after this
defeat brought to a rebellion from the people against him and to Ahmose’s
promotion to the throne. After his degradation Wahibre was strangled. This
was probably Ahmose’s order, for he thought him responsible for the defeat.
In spite of the situation he inherited, Ahmose enjoyed his reign taking
advantage of his predecessor’s glory. He kept relations with Greece and he
established strategic alliances against the Persian threat.![]() |
